Life Begins Here
Life Begins Here
At Bay Side Home in Barrington, Nova Scotia, we understand that seeking admittance to long-term care is oftentimes a tough decision to make. There are pressures and emotions involved as the family goes through the process.
This is why we strive to give our full support and work hand in hand with all the parties involved in the move.
With the friendly environment and quality facilities we provide, our residents will feel like they never left home.
Most of our accommodations are single rooms with private baths. We also have shared rooms and shared baths as well as private rooms with shared baths. Married couples may opt for adjoining rooms (when available).
There may be times, however, when a resident will need to transfer from one room to another or one household to another. This may be due to a change in the level of care required, incompatibility of roommates, or a decision made by our interdisciplinary team. This team takes into full consideration the best interests of all the residents and Bay Side Home as a whole.

Residents are invited and encouraged to be a part of the bigger community of Bay Side Home, but they also have their own quiet and personal space. Each resident's room is designed with their comfort and needs in mind. Residents can relax and watch TV, read a book, catch up with the family with a daily phone call, entertain visitors in their own room, or enjoy the neighbourhood living room and fireplace or sit on the covered patio decks.
We have expanded our home for maximum living and comfort. To read more about it, visit our page on The Eden Alternative.
Visitors are most welcome in our home. However, just like in any community, our residents may sometimes seek privacy and personal space. This is why we also ask all our visitors to respect our residents’ wishes. Community interaction is greatly encouraged. Residents find old friends and make new friends on the neighbouring households. Sipping a mid-afternoon cup of tea, sitting out on the covered patio, or playing a game of cards—these are always nicer when enjoyed with a friend.
